Fitness and Lifestyle Centres
BC Transit’s Fitness and Lifestyle Centres are located at Victoria Transit Centre (VTC) and Langford Transit Centre (LTC). They are managed and operated by the Fitness and Lifestyles Centres Society (FALCS) committee. The VTC fitness centre offers exercise classes such as yoga, pilates, total body conditioning and dance. Both Centres offer weights and cardio machines. A Fitness Coordinator is available to assist with establishing fitness goals and developing a program to suit your goals.

Social Club
BC Transit’s Social Club organizes a variety of exciting events such as Butchart Gardens fireworks nights, theatre trips, tours, shopping, hiking, rock climbing, orienteering and more. All employees of BC Transit and their families are invited to attend these activities.

Occupational Health Nurse
BC Transit employs an Occupational Health Nurse to help with:

  • Nutritional counselling and other health related issues
  • Health information and services offered in the Capital Regional District
  • Routine medical checks such as blood pressure readings, weight checks, etc.
  • Administering free yearly flu shots

Employee Assistance Program
BC Transit contracts the services of Interlock to provide an Employee and Family Assistance Program which provides confidential and professional counselling services for BC Transit employees and their immediate family members as part of the benefits package offered to new employees. Interlock’s counselling, consultation, information and referral services are available to help with a wide range of issues including:

  • Alcohol and drug misuse
  • Martial and family relationships
  • Anxiety, stress and depression
  • Anger management
  • Work-related conflicts

Critical Incident Stress and Diffusing Program
Critical incidents are unusually intense or stressful events that occur at work, including significant accidents, or collisions, threats or violence, medical emergencies, etc.  Peer volunteers are specially trained through the Employee and Family Assistance Program to provide immediate support assist employees to understand and release immediate stress symptoms and to give the employee tools to handle any longer lasting reactions.

Free Bus Pass
All BC Transit employees receive a free non-transferable yearly transit pass which is valid in Greater Victoria and TransLink in Greater Vancouver.  In addition, one free pass will be issued to one eligible family member for part-time or full-time employees.

Uniforms Provided
BC Transit provides uniforms at no cost to those employees who are required to wear uniforms as part of their position. 

Smoke-Free and Scent-Free Zones
BC Transit is committed to providing a healthy, smoke-free, scent-free environment for employees and guests. All BC Transit facilities are designated smoke-free and scent-free.  In addition, the vicinity immediately in front of all entrances into our buildings is also designated smoke-free to prevent smoke from entering the premises.
