Training & Development
At BC Transit we believe in growing from within and advancing our employees. There are many opportunities that may arise throughout one's career at BC Transit that employees may wish to embark upon. In most cases, permanent and temporary vacancies are posted internally first prior to advertising externally. In addition, expressions of interest are invited for various opportunities such as temporary promotions, relief and/or acting positions.
Other ways to also enhance ones career include internal volunteer opportunities which BC Transit supports employee participation. Such opportunities include Code of Conduct Facilitators and Critical Incident Defusers as well as several other committees.
BC Transit encourages its employees to upgrade their skills and knowledge in order to remain current in their fields and to prepare for future opportunities. BC Transit will pay all of the direct costs associated with professional development such as courses, workshops and other training activities which the company requires the employee to take.
BC Transit may reimburse all or a portion of the costs of such professional development initiated by an employee.
