Transit Operators
Over 400 Transit Operators in the Victoria Regional Transit System provide the safe, reliable driving and cheerful customer service that BC Transit is known for. Bus service is provided 365 days of the year and to be a successful operator, you need have good judgment, flexibility, safe driving habits as well as an ability to deal with all kinds of people.
Conventional and Community Transit Operators work a wide variety of shifts such as split shifts, evenings and weekends, to provide customers with the service they need. Operators select their choice of shifts in order of seniority several times throughout the year. Career advancement opportunities for Transit Operators include supervisors, training specialists or managers.
Candidates must have a demonstrated safe driver's record and a Class 2 learner’s licence for the Transit Operator position and a Class 4 learner’s licence for the Community Transit Operator position in order to be considered. Our comprehensive selection process emphasizes safety, customer service and good judgment. We offer paid training and will train successful applicants to drive a bus.
